Goal: To create a logo for T.D.I. Tim, a YouTube channel for VW repairs and turbo-charged direct injection engines.
I began this project by learning more about the YouTube channel as well as the client’s goals and vision for his brand. Our mission:
- Create a unique logo that incorporates the steampunk aesthetic
- Incorporate features of VW turbo-charged direct engine vehicles
- Develop a logo that can be used in various end products
Then, I created simple sketches–rough drafts showing general logo concepts. I took the best of these rough drafts and create a more detailed sketch to present to the client.
I then took the client’s choice and transformed it into a digital vector graphic. I take this time to tweak and refine the original concept. Finally, I present color options to the client.
I provided the logo to the client in file formats that could be used for print or digital end products.
This version of the logo provides subtle details that reinforce the steampunk look and can be used for the client’s YouTube video intros.
Of course, a full-texture image isn’t always practical, so I included a versatile, solid-color vector version that can be used in web or print.
Finally, here is a simplified version of the logo. This is useful in situations where the colors are limited, such as in screen printing or vinyl.
